The Term British: No Historian is Perfect

The British are coming !

So, I fell into a trap. The phrase, "The British are coming" is said so often that it sticks in my head. It is how I tend to refer to this group of nations in a historical context...The British. But it is a mistake to use this title in the 17th Century. When did the term British come into use???

"KNOW YOUR ENEMY: ENGLAND AND THE BRITISH" by Peter Douglas

THANKS to the New Netherland Institute for keeping people on top of facts based on the original primary sources. With accuracy and precision is the only way to understand our history.
